Some 3g Iphones cannot be unlocked. It depends on the firmware & baseband your iphone is running. Your best bet is to go on craigslist.org and type in the search “Iphone unlocking” or similar to that and find someone who has been unlocking iphones for a while and lets you watch them do it as it is an expensive phone.
They will let you know if your phone is even able to be unlocked.
2g are the easiest iphone’s to unlocked thats why you see a lot of those around and not unlocked 3g’s
You need to take it to your current carrier and get them to unlock it – it may cost you and sometimes they won’t unlock it for you.
You need got get something called Yellowsn0w which is the only software able to unlock the 3g at this time for free. Google it . But check your firmware/baseband. If you are at 2.2/ baseband 2.28 or earlier you’re okay.
If it is 2.2.1/ baseband 2.30.03 or later, it can’t be done without using a device called a turbo sim.
