Frequently Asked Questions

How does GIF to SVG conversion work?
Our tool uses image tracing to convert raster pixels into vector paths. It analyses the image edges and creates smooth curves that approximate the original shapes. It works best with simple graphics like logos or signage you'd see in Brisbane.
Will my photo look good as SVG?
Photos and complex images with many colours will produce very large SVG files with approximate results. Image tracing is designed for simple graphics like icons or flat art. For a photo of the Opera House, you're better off keeping it as a raster.
Does it preserve GIF animation?
No. This tool converts the first frame of the GIF to SVG. Animated GIFs will only have their first frame vectorised. SVG does support animation, but converting GIF animation to SVG animation isn't supported.
Can I edit the SVG output?
Yes! SVG files can be opened and edited in vector editors like Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, or Figma. You can tweak the paths, colours, and shapes after conversion.
Are my files safe?
Absolutely. All tracing happens in your browser using JavaScript. Your images are never uploaded to any server. Your data is cleared when you close the tab.
