Frequently Asked Questions

How does AI to PNG conversion work in the browser?
Adobe Illustrator files saved with "PDF Compatible" option (enabled by default) contain an embedded PDF representation. Our tool uses PDF.js to render this PDF content and exports it as a PNG image.
Why does my AI file fail to convert?
If conversion fails, the AI file likely was saved without PDF compatibility. In Illustrator, go to File > Save As and ensure "Create PDF Compatible File" is checked. Files from very old Illustrator versions may also not be compatible.
What resolution is the PNG output?
The tool renders at 2x the document size for high-quality output. A letter-size AI document will produce approximately a 1584x2048 pixel PNG image.
Are complex effects supported?
Basic vector shapes, text, and images render well. Complex effects like 3D, mesh gradients, or certain blend modes may not render perfectly since PDF.js handles the PDF representation, not native AI format.
Are my files safe?
Yes. All rendering happens in your browser using JavaScript. Your AI files are never uploaded to any server. Data is cleared when you close the page.
